The year 2025 is upon us, so why don't we retrace the company's history together? INFACO, pioneer and world leader in the design of electric pruning shears for professionals, distributes its innovative tools throughout the world. With nearly 40 years' experience, the company has diversified to offer a complete range of equipment tailored to the needs of wine growers, arboriculturists, olive growers and green space professionals.
It all began at Daniel Delmas' parents' service station. This son of a petrol station attendant had already made a name for himself in the Gaillac vineyards thanks to an ingenious trellising system that he had invented and widely distributed in the region. Local winegrowers ask Daniel Delmas about musculoskeletal disorders. Pruning vines is an arduous task, requiring almost a million cuts per season. In 1984, he designed the world's first electric pruning shears. Then, during the winter (1984-1985 pruning season), he proudly presented his revolutionary invention to his friends, before unveiling it to the whole world.
Following the invention of the Electrocoup, Daniel Delmas founded INFACO for INnovation, FAbrication and COmmercialisation. At the SITEVI trade show in Montpellier in 1985, he was awarded the gold medal for innovation and sold his first 500 units. It was the start of an exceptional adventure. The first five years were marked by very close collaboration with customers, constantly adapting the product to their intensive use.
INFACO, a family business with authentic values, passes on authentic values and entrepreneurial passion from father to son. Since 2015, the company has been managed by Davy Delmas, the son of Daniel Delmas.
INFACO remains at the forefront of innovation, investing heavily in research and development. Its in-house design office, set up in 2003, works to design reliable, durable tools. More than 20 years have passed since the company set up its own innovation centre. A building entirely dedicated to research and development, equipped with test benches that operate day and night, enables each product to be tested under extreme conditions.
Comprising a team of around ten people, the design office is committed to building on the company's strengths by offering high-performance, solid and durable tools, while following a continuous improvement approach. INFACO, a pioneer in anti-cutting safety systems for 30 years, remains the only manufacturer of electric pruning shears to offer three patented safety solutions. The latest, Contactless, was unveiled at Sitevi in 2023 and has already won five innovation awards. It is a contactless safety system that works by anticipating danger and creates a safety bubble around the pruning shear blade to protect the user's hand and fingers, while allowing the user to work close to the tool.
