Why and how to maintain its INFACO batteries

Lithium-ion technology is fairly widespread in batteries, particularly because it can store a lot of energy in a small space. It is important to maintain it to ensure optimum performance and optimise its lifespan.

All INFACO products work with Lithium-ion batteries, with the exception of older pruning shears (F3010 and earlier models).

How do you store your lithium-ion battery?

The battery should be stored in a well-ventilated area away from frost and damp, free from flammable substances, sources of ignition or heat and, of course, out of the reach of children! Here are a few golden rules to follow when storing your battery:

  1. Do not store it completely discharged;
  2. If it is not going to be used for a long time, store it in "winter storage" mode;
  3. Never store a battery out of order (in this case, follow the instructions in the article "Everything you need to know about recycling and disposing of Lithium-Ion batteries");
  4. Do not store it connected to the charger or to a tool;
  5. Do not store the charger connected to the mains.

Winterising your lithium-ion battery: think about it to optimise its life!

Wintering is the equivalent of putting the battery on standby for a long time, and is necessary in the following cases:

  • If the battery is not used for more than 1 month;
  • For transport prior to annual servicing (applies to the Electrocoup F3015 and F3020 pruning shears, the latest AT1000 attachment and the A3Mv2 48V);
  • At the end of the pruning and tying season.

Winter storage ensures that your equipment is stored in good conditions, and alsooptimises battery life! Winter storage can take up to 10 hours. Winterising the battery means that the cells can be recalibrated. If wintering is not carried out correctly, you may experience a drop in range.

For more information on batteries, instructions are available on the "Downloads" page or contact your usual INFACO-approved distributor. They will be able to give you all the valuable advice you need to make the best use of your products!

#Did you know: INFACO used to use an older generation of battery: NiMH. It is still used on the F3010 pruning shears and previous models, as well as on the A3Mv2 12V.
