Wintering the lithium-ion battery : think about it!
All INFACO products run on Lithium-ion batteries, with the exception of older pruning shears (F3010 and earlier models). This technology, widely used throughout the world for its performance, requires special care to optimise battery life.
INFACO therefore recommends wintering the lithium batteries of F3015 and F3020 pruning shears in certain cases. This long standby period is necessary:
- When not in use for more than 1 month;
- For transport prior to annual servicing;
- At the end of the pruning and tying season.
Winter storage not only ensures that your equipment is stored in good conditions, it alsooptimises battery life! Winter storage can take up to 10 hours. Winterising the battery means that the cells can be recalibrated. If wintering is not carried out correctly, you may experience a drop in range.
How should a lithium-ion battery be stored?
Whatever its status (winterised or not), a battery's storage location must be chosen with care: a ventilated area protected from frost and damp, free from flammable products, sources of ignition or heat and, of course, out of the reach of children! Here are a few golden rules to follow when storing your battery:
- Do not store it empty;
- If it is not going to be used for a long time, do not store it without putting it into "winter storage" mode;
- Do not store it out of order;
- Do not store it connected to a charger or tool;
- Do not store the charger connected to the mains.

❓frequently asked questions❓
The F3015 and F3020 batteries are lithium batteries. They therefore need to be winterised to make them safe during transport. For full details of the procedure, visit the Youtube tutorial.
The contents of a case to be sent for servicing are as follows: standard or medium tool (maximum blade not replaced except on request at extra cost), battery (winterised for F3015 and F3020 models) and charger (must not contain: waistcoat, accessory, any other contents or personal effects).
The batteries in INFACO attachments, although using the same technology as those in pruning shears, do not require wintering. Their power is lower than that of pruning shears, so there is no need.
To charge the battery of your INFACO products, the environment is important: the room must be well ventilated, free from flammable products, sources of ignition and humidity. The ideal room temperature should be between 10 and 25 degrees. In fact, it is strictly forbidden to charge a battery when the room temperature is below 0 degrees or above 40 degrees.
When charging, the battery and its charger should not be covered, as this will obstruct the charger’s ventilation fins.
A full charge takes just 2 hours.
