In 1984, Daniel Delmas, a passionate visionary surrounded by winegrowers from Europe's oldest vineyard, invented a device that would transform pruning: the world's first electric pruning shears, the ELECTROCOUP. Developed in the heart of the Tarn region (at Cahuzac sur Vère, 81), these pruning shears were much more than a simple innovation; they were the birth of a revolution in agricultural equipment.
Buoyed by this ingenious invention, and by winning first prize for innovation at the Sitevi 1985 trade fair, INFACO (INnovation, FAbrication, COmmercialisation) was born, and quickly established itself as a key player in the field of hand-held power tools for professionals.
Since that first revolution, the Electrocoup range has continued to evolve, offering pruning shears at the cutting edge of technology. The latest generation offers exceptional performance, with a long-life lithium battery, innovative safety system and adjustable settings (blade crossing, half-opening, speed, etc.). Its light weight and optimised ergonomics guarantee optimum comfort of use for all pruning work in vineyards, orchards and green spaces.
Discover the detailed history of our pruning shears since 1984.
This was the world's first electric pruning shears, invented by Daniel Delmas, the founder of INFACO. The tool was designed to improve the working conditions of his winegrower friends in the Gaillac region: to increase productivity, reduce drudgery and limit musculoskeletal disorders in particular. It was finally patented and won the Palme d'Or at the Sitevi ingenuity competition in 1985. This invention left a lasting mark on the history of winegrowing.
The Electrcoup 2 continues to operate on the same cam-operated principle, but incorporates a blade return spring. The electronics were moved from the machine to the belt, making it much lighter. The batteries are more compact and lighter than the first pruning shears.
At the time, with its 150 cuts per minute, the Electrocoup plus was "the lightest, fastest and most powerful" of all the professional electric pruning shears on the market. It differed from previous models in that it was lighter and faster.
The F3000 marks a real turning point in the evolution of the tool thanks to its ingenious rack and pinion system. This allows the blade to move backwards before the cutting head closes completely. Other innovative changes include a Nickel Cadium battery and a half-open switch.
Compared to its predecessor, the F3002's main argument is that it is lighter thanks to various technological developments (in the pruning shears and the battery). The tool has been refined and the battery is Ni-Mh, which is much more efficient than Ni-Cd. This battery technology makes it much easier to use and manage charging and discharging.
The 2004 model offers a development that users have been waiting for for many years: the blade advance is now controlled by finger pressure on the trigger. The pruning shear also integrates the control electronics directly into the shear, and the power cable has been simplified. All in all, a reliable tool.
What's more, a safety system is being marketed on a large scale for the first time. It works with a metal sensor inside the counter-blade. Wearing a mesh glove ensures conductivity.
The F3010 is the first model to offer the option of autonomous replacement of the cutting head with a "maxi" kit for recutting work. The historic rechargeable battery has been transformed into an inverted T shape and integrated into a waistcoat for optimum working comfort.
The additional wired safety device has taken a new step forward: all the parts of the cutting head are electrically conductive and are triggered by touch detection.
All the advantages of the previous models had been capitalised on in the F3015, including compatibility with kits, reinforced wireless safety and the brushless motor. It is lighter, both in terms of the pruning shear itself and the battery, but far more powerful than any other pruning shear before it.
It is currently the best-selling model in the world and the one that positions INFACO as the undisputed leader in the professional electric pruning shears market.
The F3020 is the 9th generation of Electrocoup pruning shears. It's lighter, faster and more compact than all its predecessors! It has a better grip and makes pruning more comfortable.
In terms of safety, the F3020 offers three devices to suit every need:
The F3020 can be adapted to all types of size thanks to its interchangeable cutting kits: standard, medium, maxi, hooves and crimping. Other accessories complete the experience: fixed or carbon telescopic poles for working at height, a connected box and small tools for maintenance.
And because innovation never stops at INFACO, the 10th generation of Electrocoup pruning shears is already taking shape in our design offices... but you'll have to wait a few more years to discover it.
Of course, the company's history is not limited to electric pruning shears. Other professional tools are (or were) part of the range, such as the automatic tying device, the olive vibrator and the multi-function handle. Discover them all in the"Products" section. All these solutions have been designed to complement the Electrocoup pruning shears, offering all pruning professionals a complete range of equipment for all maintenance work on their farms.
For 40 years, the company has remained true to its vision: combining tradition, innovation and proximity to users to design high-performance, durable and safe tools. To find your equipment and benefit from expert advice, contact our network of approved distributors.
Our Design Office is made up of about ten collaborators who work daily on the tools of tomorrow. We estimate that a new generation of pruning shears takes around 6 to 7 years to be developed.
The relationship between INFACO and its distributors makes it possible to stay close to end users. They are the ones who share expectations, field constraints, or suggestions for improvement. These exchanges feed the internal teams (after-sales service, design office, quality) and allow the development of tools that are increasingly adapted. This constant dialogue has been the strength of the brand for over 40 years.
